Landmark Design was founded by Carol Robinson in 1989. From the very beginning the primary goal of the firm has been to provide a level of service that exceeds our customer’s expectations. This ongoing commitment has been the cornerstone of the firm’s continuing success. We pride ourselves on being able to meet short time schedules, or unforeseen changes necessitating quick response.
Landmark Design’s project types are broad based and include parks, schools, colleges and universities, child development centers, retail and office commercial, churches, apartment buildings, housing and public works projects. Landmark Design provides the full range of landscape architectural services including design, planning, preparation of cost estimates, complete construction drawings, project management, and on-site observation. We regularly use consultants where in-depth professional expertise is called for, such as in the areas of irrigation, arboriculture, soils analysis, cost estimating, wildlife habit restoration, or engineering. We always bring to the project the best resources that a team approach can deliver.
Our strengths as a firm lie in two areas: design and project management. As designers we pride ourselves on solutions that are sensitive to site conditions and the intended user. Designs stand the test of time because we are realistic about the surrounding environment, the circulation patterns, and the expected maintenance levels. We have consistently been supportive of client sustainable goals and strategies and welcome opportunities to lead in this area. This concern, awareness, and sensitivity to context, has been the basis of our practice since it's founding over 20 years ago. As owner, Carol Robinson, a LEED Accredited Professional has participated on several LEED teams for certified LEED projects and is passionate about a holistic approach to sustainable development.
Our project management skills have enabled us to consistently meet deadlines and budget constraints of projects. Our style is very front-end loaded whereby we try to flush out at the beginning of a project all the issues to be dealt with and then plan accordingly. This is particularly critical in a team environment where individual consultants need to be challenged to think of the impact that their design decisions have on the other disciplines.
Landmark Design is a 100% women owned business (WBE) and is certified with the California Unified Certification Program. In addition we are a certified DBE with the State of California. Carol is a LEED Accredited Professional and member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).
